How to play Piano Man on the harmonica
Before we delve into the specifics of “Piano Man,” it’s essential to cover some basics. First, you need to choose the right harmonica. You’ll need a diatonic harmonica in the key of C for this song. Next, position your hands and mouth correctly. Get comfortable with the breathing techniques for playing the harmonica.
We begin by focusing on single notes. So, this makes it easier to understand the song’s structure. Then, we will add double stops.
Once you learn the single-note melody, you can add notes from the lower hole. This will create a more harmonized, chord-like, and rhythmic sound that is closer to the original song.
Watch the video to the end, as I explained both versions:
- Single Note Version
- Double Note Version
Take your time. Practice slowly and then gradually speed up. This way, you can play closer to the original song.
